The Paducah Jazz Ensemble is an
all-volunteer organization affiliated with the Paducah Concert Band. We are
a traditional 18 piece “big band”, consisting of saxophone, trombone,
trumpet and rhythm sections. Our director is Mr. Doug Van Fleet, a gifted
music educator with a long history of producing award winning ensembles and
encouraging talented musicians. He is currently the director of band and
orchestra at Paducah’s St. Mary High School.Band
members represent a diverse group of people, ranging from gifted high school
students, area band directors and other music professionals, part-time
musicians working full-time in other fields and retirees. Members come from
the Paducah/McCracken County area as well as surrounding communities,
including Brookport, Murray/Calloway County and Livingston and Lyon
Counties.
The Paducah Jazz Ensemble performs a mix of swing era and
modern styles and has a large library (our “book”) of music from such
legendary bands as Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, and Duke
Ellington. We are available for bookings for corporate parties, dances or
other social engagements.
Our band Manager, Mr. Stu Stephany, would be happy to
discuss with you the possibilities of having The Paducah Jazz Ensemble
perform at your next engagement. Stu can be reached at (270) 898-8426 or you
can email him at
bookings@paducahjazz.org.
